Grassroots Ventures: Turning Passion Into Platforms


Grassroots Ventures is both a business model and a dedicated division within the Barters ecosystem. It represents our hands-on approach to helping member businesses build additional revenue streams through new, purpose-built sub-brands, brands created and managed by Barters in partnership with our clients.

This model uses low-risk, white-label and print-on-demand providers to create and market branded products under our clients’ existing identities. From coffee, supplements, and snacks to apparel, wellness items, and personal care products, Grassroots Ventures allows our partners to expand their brand presence and generate new income without the traditional barriers of manufacturing or logistics.


For example, as House of J Boxing transitions into a broader fitness and wellness club with multiple programs and locations, we’re developing a sub-brand under their name called Casa J Supply. This line will include protein powders, supplements, energy drinks, and eventually personal care products like body wash—all designed to deepen member engagement and drive recurring revenue for House of J.


The idea is simple but powerful: use an existing business, especially one with a membership or repeat-customer base, is a foundation to build sub-brands that enhance loyalty, provide new value, and strengthen the parent company itself.

Imagine a golf club launching its own small-batch coffee or signature whiskey blend. Or a boutique hotel offering its own branded snacks, robes, or spa products. Even a hair salon could introduce its own line of conditioners and styling products. These extensions are not just new revenue sources, they are cultural touchpoints that bring customers closer to the brand experience.


Grassroots Ventures focuses specifically on these types of businesses; gyms, clubs, wellness studios, hotels, salons, restaurants, companies with strong loyalty and community at their core. This loyalty allows us to design member incentive programs, such as free product samples tied to memberships, creating a win-win for both business and customer.


For now, we’re leveraging white-label and print-on-demand services as a cost-effective, low-risk way to prototype and launch these sub-brands. But our long-term goal is to grow Grassroots Ventures into a fully in-house brand production arm, capable of developing and supplying original product lines like Casa J Supply directly to consumers, all under the umbrella of our clients’ identities.
